PVI FOUNDATION INC., formerly known as Pagkakaisa Volunteers Inc., is a non-stock, non-profit organization established in February of 1979 and is composed of volunteer students and professional. PVI is committed to the welfare and development of Children with Special Needs: the mentally and physically challenged, abandoned, socially deprived, street smart, the physically and sexually abused, children with autism, with Down syndrome, with cerebral palsy and children with ADHD.

Education and information on special children is the top priority of PVI. It conducts seminars and workshops to volunteers, students, people or groups who request for such trainings because it firmly believes that education is the major key which can help reach out to as many people as it can to understand, accept and be equipped with basic information on special children – their characteristics, attributes, needs and potential. These various year-round activities not only address the special needs of the children but contribute to the enrichment of the volunteers’ lives as well. Since its inception, PVI trained volunteers not only from Metro Manila but also from the provinces of the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao areas.

PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

GENERAL ASSEMBLIES (G.A’s) – PVI conducts a monthly general meeting or assembly in order to disseminate information to its member volunteers. Here members voice out their concerns for the continued improvement of the foundation and also current and future projects are monitored and planned. Apart from this, board/officer’s meetings are also conducted on a regular basis. An election of Officers is held every three years.

OPERATION BIG BROTHER (OBB) – This is a monthly activity held after Kamp Pagkakaisa where children with special needs from certain institutions are provided an outdoor experience like swimming, mall tours and visit to the museum, zoo, or park. OBB basically aims to provide activities, which will give the children a break from their usual routines on their respective homes. It is also a follow-up on the progress of some of the children and to strengthen ties with the institutions.

SPORTSFEST – An activity for all the volunteers. They gather together, play sports like basketball, volleyball, swimming, bowling etc. to enhance the bonding among each others.

ONE-DAY KAMP – This is an activity to be held within the metropolis, the activities we have during the ten-day summer camp are being put together in just one day.

FUND RAISING PROJECTS – Since much of the Foundation’s resources come from donations and contributions, project to raise funds are integral to its existence. Among the venture are: Corporate Solicitation, Sponsor-a-Camper (for Kamp Pagkakaisa), Bingo Socials, Stage Plays, Concerts, Raffle of Cakes, Cellular Phones, and other appliances, Signature Campaign for a Cause and the like.

CHRISTMAS GIFT GIVING – is held every December 23 the night before Christmas Eve. Volunteers go around the metropolis to give out pre-packed food items for Noche Buena to those who are really underprivileged families living on the esteros, rile of train, garbage dumps and sidewalks. Especially for street children and their families, PVI makes sure that they will have some food for Noche Buena.

TRAINING AND SEMINARS – First time volunteers are required to attend a training seminar designed to educate them on children with special needs: their characteristics, attributes, needs, how to handle them, and educating other interested people regarding these aspects. Throughout the year, volunteers also participate in different programs such as activity planning, assessment, exposure trips and outdoors activities, etc. which contribute to their over-all growth and development as volunteers.

KAMP PAGKAKAISA –This is the foundation’s main activity, a ten-day summer camp for special children. The camp is held in different rural areas every year and children are invited from government and non-government institutions as well as private families. Among the activities during the camp are Mardi Gras, Cheering Competition, Dance Festival, Arts & Crafts, Special Olympics, Cultural Night, Nature Study, Field Trips, School Setting and other activities that enhance the child’s innate talents, and potentials. Apart from this, volunteers are given a chance to educate the host townspeople on better understanding as regards to children with special needs. Kamp Pagkakaisa responds to the needs of the special children.

APPRECIATION PARTY – An overnight swimming event, exclusive for the volunteers who spent time, effort and render full service to the previously held kamps. However sponsors and other people who played a vital role and contributed to the success of the kamp in all aspects may as well join in the said event.

EVEN THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD
CANNOT PAY THE SAME KIND OF REWARD
YOU EARN AS A VOLUNTEER.
BECAUSE WHEN YOU GIVE FROM THE HEART,
IT ENRICHES YOUR WHOLE LIFE,
WITH RESPECT, WITH COMPASSION, WITH INTEGRITY.

DO IT TODAY AND DISCOVER WHY SOME OF THE RICHES PEOPLE IN THE WORLD ARE NOT MILLIONAIRES,

THEY ARE VOLUNTEERS!
